RHWDP in Osun Must Not Be Turned Into Campaign Tool, Osun Political Frontiers Tell FG

The Osun Political Frontiers, a sociopolitical group within Osun state, has expressed deep concern over the activities of the minister of marine and blue economy, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola and a gubernatorial aspirant under the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2026 Osun gubernatorial election, Bola Oyebamiji warning them to desist from undermining the achievements of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the state.

The group noted with dismay that the continuous abuse of circumventing the programmes and projects of Mr. President to launder personal egos and promote political profiles is totally condemnable and unnecessary.

In a statement issued by state coordinator, Alhaji Abayomi Raji and state publicity secretary, Mrs. Kofo Adewale which reads, “we wish to draw the attention of the Federal Government and the entire populace of osun state to the Renewed Hope Ward Development Programme (RHWDP), a laudable initiative specially designed by the National Economic Council (NEC) to accelerate grassroots development from the ward level.

The programme, which is central to President Tinubu’s poverty alleviation agenda, is being mischievously used by Mr. Oyebamiji as a campaign tool to entice unsuspecting electorates, thereby eroding the credibility and intended impact of the initiative”

As part of the objectives of the programme, it must be emphasized that the RHWDP is targeted towards 8,809 administrative wards across the country with the sole aim of addressing poverty alleviation, food security, rural electrification, and economic rejuvenation.

Any attempt to hijack or politicize this noble intervention is worrisome and should be treated as an affront to the collective efforts of the federal government in driving inclusive national development.

Comrades Raji and Adewale therefore call on the supervising head of the ministry of budget and economic planning to urgently take charge of the programme in osun state, rather than allow it to be subjected to the whims and caprices of individuals pursuing personal political ambitions. The federal government must act swiftly to ensure that the rhwdp serves its intended purpose for the benefit of all citizens, the statement ended
