US Embassy Reiterates: Visa Fees Are Non-Refundable

The United States Embassy in Nigeria has reiterated that fees paid for US visa applications are non-refundable, emphasizing that this policy is in line with global practices.

The Embassy made this clarification following inquiries from Nigerian applicants regarding the possibility of refunds. According to the Mission, visa fees cover the administrative costs of processing applications, irrespective of whether a visa is granted.

In a statement posted on its official X handle on Tuesday, the Embassy said:

“We hear your concerns regarding US visa application fees. Like most countries, US visa fees cover the cost of processing the application, regardless of the outcome. While fees are non-refundable and non-transferable, each application is reviewed thoroughly and fairly.”

The Mission further advised applicants to prepare their documents carefully to ensure the best possible outcome.
