Reps Vow No Nigerian Will Be Left Behind in NG-CARES Reforms
The House of Representatives has pledged to ensure that the NG-CARES programme reaches every vulnerable Nigerian, even as the federal government pushes through major economic and structural reforms.
Hon. Mudashiru Lukman Alani, representing Ayedire/Iwo/Ola-Oluwa Federal Constituency, stood in for Speaker Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abass at an oversight event themed, “Building a Sustainable NG-CARES Programme: The Role of National Assembly.”
Addressing stakeholders, Hon. Alani said the legislature has a critical duty to protect Nigerians most affected by reforms under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope initiative. He disclosed that a dedicated committee has been set up to work with relevant agencies to ensure NG-CARES delivers on its promise to vulnerable citizens.
The lawmaker outlined the committee’s mandate to:
Provide rigorous oversight of NG-CARES implementation across all 36 states and the FCT;
Ensure programme delivery aligns with its original design, objectives, and timelines;
Collaborate with implementing agencies for ongoing assessment and course correction;
Identify legislative gaps and create legal and policy frameworks for effective, sustainable implementation.
Alani stressed that the National Assembly remains committed to safeguarding the interests of Nigerians, particularly the vulnerable, through continuous oversight, legislative support, and strategic collaboration.
“Through deliberate legislative action and robust oversight, NG-CARES will achieve its intended impact and leave no Nigerian behind,” he said.
