Kebbi Governor Swears in New Solid Minerals Commissioner, Launches Mining Agency
Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi State on Monday swore in Garba Hassan Warrah as the new Commissioner for Solid Minerals Development and Mining.
At the same event, the governor inaugurated the Kebbi State Mining Development Agency, appointing Abdullahi Buhari Warrah as its Managing Director.
Garba Warrah succeeds Haliru Aliyu Muhammad Wasagu, who was previously suspended. The oath of office was administered by the Chief Judge, Justice Umar Abubakar, at the Government House in Birnin Kebbi.
Governor Idris emphasized that the appointments were merit-based and urged the new officials to perform effectively. He noted that their primary responsibility is to enhance revenue generation through the mining sector, highlighting past unsuccessful investments in Ngaski.
He further stressed the need for the state to diversify its sources of revenue, stating that federal allocations alone are insufficient to meet Kebbi’s developmental needs. The governor gave the appointees six months to demonstrate tangible results, promising full government support to ensure their success.
