53 Civil Servants Scale Written Exam in Permanent Secretary Race

The Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (OHCSF) yesterday announced that 53 candidates have qualified for the next stage in the ongoing selection process for the appointment of new Permanent Secretaries.

Out of 70 officers who sat for the written examination, 53 scaled through, according to a statement by Eno Olotu, Director of Information and Public Relations at the OHCSF.

She said the strong performance demonstrated the depth of talent within the Federal Civil Service and reinforced government’s commitment to merit and excellence in leadership appointments.

The next phase of the exercise, an Information and Communication Technology (ICT) proficiency test, holds today. The assessment will test candidates’ digital competence, considered essential for modern public service leadership.

Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs. Didi Walson-Jack, assured that the process remains credible, transparent, and reform-driven, in line with the federal government’s vision of building a professional and accountable bureaucracy.

“The advancement of 53 candidates to the next stage of this rigorous process reflects our deliberate efforts to uphold excellence in public service leadership. We are committed to ensuring that only individuals of proven competence, integrity, and vision emerge to lead the Federal Civil Service at the highest levels,” she said.

The federal government is seeking to fill five vacancies, including those for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and Imo State, as well as three newly created rotational zonal positions for the North-Central, North-East, and South-East regions.
