Wike’s Aide Confirms Minister’s TV Appearance, Dispels Health Rumours
Lere Olayinka, media aide to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has confirmed that his principal will grant a live television interview on September 18.
This clarification comes amid widespread rumours suggesting that the former Rivers State governor had travelled abroad due to a deteriorating health condition.
An online platform had alleged that the Minister was flown to the United Kingdom for medical treatment, claiming he was diagnosed with congestive heart failure.
Dismissing the report, Olayinka said on Sunday that Wike is scheduled to feature on Channels Television’s Politics Today programme on Thursday, September 18, 2025, between 7pm and 8:30pm.
Meanwhile, on the same day, the suspended Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, is expected to be reinstated.
