ADC will unseat Tinubu, capture Lagos in 2027 — Aregbesola

Former Osun State governor and National Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, has declared that his party is poised to unseat President Bola Tinubu and take over Lagos State in the 2027 general elections.

Aregbesola made the declaration yesterday in Lagos during a ceremony where the leader of the Conscience Forum, Hon. Moshood Salvador, alongside his members, officially defected from the Labour Party (LP) to the ADC. The event also marked the 25th anniversary of the Conscience Forum as a political group.

The former minister, while welcoming the defectors, commended their decision and charged them to work tirelessly for the takeover of political power at both the federal and state levels.

According to him, the ADC has the structure and strategy to produce Nigeria’s next president and to form the government in Lagos.

“With our resolve, it won’t be difficult to take over power. It’s a simple strategy of one getting ten, and each of the ten also getting ten — an operation we call ‘ten over ten.’ Once this is achieved, the rest is settled. We will surely meet at the Aso Rock Villa and in Alausa,” Aregbesola said.

He described the Conscience Forum as a strong and disciplined political family whose defection to the ADC was a major boost ahead of the 2027 elections.

Salvador, while explaining the decision to leave the Labour Party, said the internal crises rocking the LP had shown it was no longer a party for the future.

“We had to take a wise decision for our members. With the coalition that the ADC represents, the Conscience Forum, with over 400,000 members in Lagos, has chosen to align with the ADC. Today, on our 25th anniversary, we are formally joining the ADC so that our members can integrate at ward and local government levels,” Salvador said.

The event was attended by ADC leaders, ward and zonal executives, as well as members of the Conscience Forum across the 20 Local Government Areas and 37 LCDAs in Lagos State.
