Bandits Abduct Pure Water Factory Owner in Kwara
Armed bandits on Thursday invaded Gbugbu community in Edu Local Government Area of Kwara State and abducted the owner of Yashashi Pure Water Company.
Witnesses said the gunmen stormed the community in broad daylight, shooting sporadically to scare residents before seizing the factory owner and whisking him away to an unknown destination.
A resident, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the attack occurred while locals were going about their normal activities. “The bandits came suddenly and started shooting. People ran for their lives. They specifically targeted the owner of Yashashi Pure Water and took him away. Up till now, nobody knows where they took him,” the source said.
The abduction has heightened tension in the community, with residents expressing fears that insecurity in Kwara State is worsening despite repeated assurances from government and security agencies.
Incidents of banditry and kidnapping for ransom, which have long plagued neighbouring states in the North-Central region, are increasingly spreading into Kwara, leaving rural communities vulnerable and in fear of further attacks.
