Mimiko Debunks Viral Social Media Claims, Labels Them Falsehood
Former governor of Ondo State, Olusegun Mimiko, has distanced himself from a viral social media post that attributed disparaging comments about certain political figures to him, dismissing it as false and irresponsible.
In a statement issued on Monday by his former Chief Press Secretary, Eni Akinsola, Mimiko said he neither authored the post nor granted any interview on the issues raised.
Akinsola noted that while the former governor would have preferred to ignore the “baseless fabrications,” clarification became necessary after several Nigerians forwarded different versions of the same misinformation to Mimiko’s associates.
He described the post as “a concocted piece of incoherence designed to mislead the public,” stressing that such conduct was not reflective of Mimiko’s political style.
The public was urged to disregard the viral message, which Akinsola said amounted to “an unfortunate descent into naked falsehood and an abuse of the right to free speech.”
