Consensus Builds as APC Ward Leaders Back Omisore in Osun
No fewer than 332 ward chairmen and elected councillors of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State have endorsed the governorship ambition of Senator Iyiola Omisore ahead of the 2026 election.
The declaration was made during a meeting at Omisore’s campaign office in Osogbo, where party stakeholders canvassed for him to emerge as the consensus candidate.
According to the ward executives, while all aspirants within the party are qualified, Omisore’s wide-ranging experience in administration and politics, both within Osun and at the national level, positions him as the most viable contender to deliver victory for the APC.
They also pledged to intensify grassroots mobilisation, noting that his “Omisore Agenda” offers a clear blueprint for governance. Many ward leaders, however, urged him to prioritise grassroots empowerment if elected.
Former House of Representatives member, Ajibola Famurewa, described Omisore as “a dependable politician with the capacity to lead the APC to victory,” while former Commissioner for Education, Folorunsho Bamisayemi, assured stakeholders that Omisore would prioritise both party welfare and the state’s development.
In his remarks, Omisore thanked the ward leaders for their support, describing the consensus endorsement as a “signal of APC’s unity and readiness for victory at the polls.”
He disclosed that he had already met stakeholders across the state’s nine federal constituencies to share his ambition and urged ward executives to spread his message, promote unity at the grassroots and rally support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
It will be recalled that on Monday, September 8, Omisore also held a meeting with local government party chairmen and council chairmen across Osun State as part of his consultations.
