Zamfara Sets Up Committee to Mobilise Voters for PVC Registration
Zamfara State Government has launched a drive to boost participation in the ongoing Permanent Voters Card (PVC) registration, aiming to put the state among the top in voter turnout.
While speaking with journalists in Gusau, the state capital, Mustafa Kaura, Special Assistant to Governor Dauda Lawal on Media and Communications, said the initiative was necessary due to low public engagement in the exercise.
The committee, chaired by the state’s Deputy Governor, will spearhead awareness campaigns across the state, while sub-committees at polling units ensure all eligible voters secure their PVCs.
Kaura said, “Our target is to register over one million new voters ahead of the 2027 elections. We cannot lag behind other states that have smaller populations but higher registration numbers.”
He added that the initiative reflects the state’s commitment to becoming one of the leading states in voter registration nationwide.
