Ajulo Reaffirms Ondo’s Commitment to Justice Sector Reform

Ondo State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Dr. Olukayode Ajulo, SAN, has reiterated the government’s commitment to advancing reforms in the justice sector, stressing that the administration remains focused on building a more accessible, transparent, and accountable system.

Ajulo, who addressed journalists in Akure, dismissed allegations of contract racketeering linked to the Judicial Village Project, describing them as unfounded and aimed at tarnishing his reputation. He maintained that his stewardship has instead positioned Ondo State as a model in justice sector transformation.

Highlighting achievements under his watch, the Attorney General noted the mobilisation of over 273 volunteer senior and junior lawyers to provide free legal services, ongoing reforms to reduce case delays, and initiatives to strengthen institutional accountability within the Ministry of Justice. He further cited improved collaboration between the judiciary, executive, and security agencies, alongside the creation of mentorship platforms for young lawyers.

On the allegations, Ajulo clarified that the execution and supervision of capital projects, including judiciary-related infrastructure, fall strictly within the mandate of the Ministry of Infrastructure. “As Attorney General, my role is to promote and defend policies that strengthen the justice sector, not to award or supervise contracts,” he said.

The petition, reportedly filed by the Movement for the Redemption of Ondo State (MROS), had accused him of irregularities in the project. Ajulo, however, dismissed the claims as a smear campaign propelled by ignorance of governance processes.
