Sowore Labels Ondo Governor ‘Empty’, Aide Hits Back
Human rights activist and 2023 African Action Congress presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, has described Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State as one of the country’s worst governors.
Sowore, who also leads the #TakeitBack movement, made the assertion on his verified social media handle, calling the governor “empty and fleeting” while reacting to a viral video showing Aiyedatiwa dancing energetically at an event in Akure, the state capital.
He said, “One of the worst governors Nigeria has ever had is Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State—not because he’s busy dancing, but because he has nothing to offer. Empty and fleeting, just like the dance here itself.”
In response, Aiyedatiwa’s aide, Yomi Oyekan, dismissed Sowore’s comment, describing him as a clout seeker with no substantive record.
Oyekan said, “Mr. Sowore trades in spectacle, not substance. His political life is marked by arrests, hashtags, failed protests, and unsuccessful electoral bids. Keep shouting from the sidelines if it comforts you, but don’t mistake attention for relevance. History has already judged you, and you failed.”
The exchange has reignited debates over political conduct and public expectations of elected officials in the state.
