South East Forum Backs ADC to Dethrone APC in 2027
The South East Democratic Forum (SEDEF) has expressed confidence that the Africa Democratic Congress (ADC) can unseat the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ebonyi State and across Nigeria.
In a statement, SEDEF National President Chris Ogbu said the opposition coalition has the capacity to challenge the current government amid what he described as “massive failure.”
“The level of mobilisation by ADC towards the 2027 general election in Ebonyi State and nationwide shows that the party is ready to assume power,” Ogbu said.
He commended opposition leaders for offering Nigerians hope and serving as alternative voices in the nation’s democracy. “The coming together of these men of diverse calibres will give Nigerians the credible alternative they have been yearning for,” the statement added.
ADC has continued to gain momentum since appointing former Senate President David Mark as its interim chairman. Prominent politicians, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former governors Rotimi Amaechi and Nasir El-Rufai, are part of the party.
The forum’s endorsement comes amid growing discussions on political realignment and the emergence of new opposition coalitions ahead of the 2027 general elections. SEDEF believes that a united and mobilized opposition will provide Nigerians with a credible alternative to the ruling party.
