Atiku Mourns Borno Boko Haram Attack Victims
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has expressed deep sorrow over the killing of more than 60 people, including soldiers, in a Boko Haram attack on Darajamal, Borno State.
The insurgents struck on Friday evening in Bama Local Government Area, burning homes and abducting residents, according to initial reports.
In a statement on Sunday, Atiku described the attack as “senseless violence” and extended condolences to the families of the victims, the people of Borno, and Governor Babagana Zulum, who visited the affected community soon after the attack.
“My heartfelt condolences go to the bereaved families and the resilient people of Borno. May Almighty Allah grant the departed Al-Jannah Firdaus and comfort their loved ones,” he said.
Atiku urged national unity and renewed commitment to defeating terrorism, stressing that the sacrifices of soldiers and civilians should strengthen community security and collaboration with security agencies.
Borno, the epicentre of Boko Haram’s 15-year insurgency, has witnessed renewed attacks in recent months despite military operations. The latest incident has reignited calls for improved intelligence and better troop support to prevent further bloodshed.
