Armed Bandits Kill One, Several Missing in Kwara Village Attack
One person was reportedly killed, and scores are missing following a violent attack by armed bandits in Shagbe village near Igbaja town in Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State.
The attack occurred at about 21:15 on Saturday, throwing the community into panic.
A security source disclosed that “one person was killed during the violent invasion and eight others have been declared missing.” Due to the volatile situation, an on-the-spot assessment is currently not feasible.
Reacting to the development, the state Commissioner of Police, Adekimi Ojo, stated that the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Oke-Ode is already in the area for an on-the-spot assessment of the situation.
The Shagbe attack comes just hours after the arrest of a sizeable number of suspected bandits in Babanla community, who are currently being profiled at the state police command in Ilorin, the state capital.
Authorities have urged residents to remain calm and report any suspicious movements to security operatives while assuring that efforts are ongoing to locate the missing persons and secure the community.
