Senator Ola Praises Ojo but Endorses Oyebanji for Continuity

Senator Bode Ola, a senior chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has urged governorship aspirant Kayode Ojo to exercise patience and allow his political moment to arrive in due course.

Speaking in Abuja on Saturday, Senator Ola expressed support for the re-election bid of Governor Biodun Oyebanji and advised Ojo, who is challenging the incumbent for the APC ticket ahead of the July 20, 2026 governorship election, not to escalate political tensions in Ekiti State. Instead, he encouraged him to contribute to ongoing developmental and urban renewal projects across the state.

While describing Ojo as “brilliant and full of ideas,” Senator Ola stated that Governor Oyebanji’s performance in agriculture, health, education, and other sectors justifies a second term. He added that his own findings indicate that the people of Ekiti prefer continuity.

Ola, who represented Ekiti Central in the 6th National Assembly, said:

> “Engr. Kayode Ojo is a young man of great potential. I hold him in high regard. He is calm, calculated, and industrious. However, his time has not yet come. There is a time for everything. At present, the mood of the state favors Governor Oyebanji, and it is unrealistic to think otherwise.”

He emphasized that his support for the governor is based on personal integrity and visible projects, especially in Ado Ekiti, the state capital.

Kayode Ojo, a businessman and current Chairman of the University of Nigeria (UNN) Governing Board, officially picked his governorship nomination forms on August 26, signaling his intention to contest for the APC ticket in the primary scheduled for October 27, 2025.
