Osun Federal Lawmaker Mourns Passing of Ofatedo Monarch at 110
An Osun federal lawmaker, Rep. Bamidele Salam, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of His Royal Majesty, Oba Abdulahi Okunloye Agunloye, the Olofa of Ofatedo, who passed away at the age of 110.
Oba Agunloye, crowned in 1981, reigned for 44 years, earning a reputation as a peacemaker and advocate for community development. His tenure was marked by efforts to promote unity, stability, and growth within Ofatedo and the wider Osun State.
In a statement on Saturday, Rep. Salam described the late monarch as “not just a traditional ruler, but a father figure whose wisdom and service left a lasting legacy.”
He extended condolences to the royal family, the Ofatedo community, and the Osun State Traditional Council, urging them to draw strength from the monarch’s decades of dedicated leadership.
