Akume Seeks Sustained Support for Tinubu’s Reforms

The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), George Akume, yesterday urged the people of Benue State to continue to back President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the implementation of his reform agenda.

Speaking in Wannune, Tarka Local Council, where he commissioned renovated school facilities he facilitated through the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), Akume described the gesture as a modest contribution to education and community development.

The project, which included the rehabilitation of structures at LGEA Primary School, Wannune, his alma mater, also provided a fully equipped ICT laboratory.

Akume said the initiative reflected his commitment to advancing education, stressing that President Tinubu’s reform programmes required broad-based support to deliver results.

He listed key federal projects across the country, including the Makurdi–Katsina Ala Road reconstruction, Makurdi–Otukpo–Ninth Mile Road, Lagos–Calabar Super Highway, Badagry–Sokoto Highway and the Enugu–Onitsha Expressway.

Receiving the facilities, Tarka Local Government Education Secretary, Aondoakaa Kwaghbo, expressed appreciation for the intervention, noting that education remained the foundation of meaningful national development.

Executive Secretary of UBEC, Hajiya Aisha Garba, who officially handed over the project, commended the SGF for facilitating the renovation and described the initiative as a boost to basic education in the area.
