RHEI 2: Tinubu’s Youth Jobs Scheme Gets Ondo Boost — Aiyedatiwa
Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Employment Initiative (RHEI 2), saying it will help tackle unemployment in the country.
Speaking during the launch of Phase II in Akure, which targets over 41,000 youths, Aiyedatiwa, represented by his Chief of Staff, Segun Omojuwa, said the programme will equip young people with skills in vocational, technical, and entrepreneurial areas, enabling them to create jobs rather than just seek them.
He said the initiative, implemented through the National Directorate of Employment (NDE), complements Ondo State’s policies on youth development and poverty reduction.
The NDE Director-General, Silas Ali Agara, represented by State Coordinator Emmanuel Aderinola, said Phase II would expand training to more than 30 market-relevant skills, promoting self-reliance and economic empowerment.
Phase I, launched in December 2024, trained 32,692 Nigerians and supported small-scale businesses with loans and starter packs. Agara described RHEI 2 as a programme aimed not just at jobs, but at building a sustainable ecosystem for youth empowerment and national growth.
The launch, attended by government officials and beneficiaries, was marked by optimism that the initiative would reduce poverty and create a skilled workforce in Ondo State and beyond.
