Owa Obokun Urges Traders to Uphold Honesty, Fairness in Business

The Owa Obokun Adimula of Ijesaland, Oba Clement Adesuyi Haastrup, has urged traders in the region to conduct business with integrity, warning against arbitrary price hikes and the sale of counterfeit goods.

The monarch gave the caution on Wednesday during a courtesy visit from members of the Eze Ndigbo in Ijesaland, led by their leader, Eze Ifeanyi Achiever.

Reaffirming the hospitality of his people, Oba Haastrup emphasized that Ijesaland remains a welcoming home for all residents, regardless of origin. He commended the Igbo community for their peaceful coexistence with his subjects and encouraged continued unity and harmony.

The monarch also expressed concern over the emergence of parallel associations and titles within the Igbo community, calling for reconciliation among the groups.

“Traders must not exploit consumers by inflating prices or selling substandard products. Fairness in trade is essential for trust and lasting relationships,” he warned.

In his response, Eze Ndigbo pledged the continued loyalty of the Igbo community in Ijesaland to the Owa Obokun throne.
