Governor Adeleke Urges Calm, Neutral Security in President’s Home State
Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has called on security agencies to uphold neutrality and professionalism amid the evolving political climate, stressing that Osun, the home state of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, must not become a site of political conflict.
The Governor made the appeal during the decoration ceremony of his Aide-De-Camp (ADC), Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Ahmed Bio Abdulraman, at the Government House, Osogbo. The event attracted top security officials, including the Osun State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Ibrahim Gotan; the State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Mr. Igbalawole Sotiyo; and the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Sector Commander, Mr. Leye Adegboyega.
Governor Adeleke commended the Nigeria Police Force for its continued professionalism and discipline, praising both the Inspector General of Police and the Osun Command. He particularly singled out Commissioner Gotan for fostering peace and order across the state.
“Law enforcement must not be compromised by partisanship. We should continue to maintain a level playing field. This is the home state of Mr. President. Mr. President belongs to all of us. Osun should not be turned into a battleground,” Adeleke stressed.
Turning to the celebrant, the Governor described DSP Abdulraman as an exemplary officer whose loyalty and discipline reflect the best values of the Nigeria Police. “I am happy today over the promotion of my ADC. He is a good representative of the police,” Adeleke said, further acknowledging the sacrifices of security operatives nationwide.
In a statement to the press, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, the Governor’s spokesperson, said, “Governor Adeleke remains committed to ensuring that Osun State is peaceful and free from political tensions. He believes strongly that security agencies must operate professionally and without bias, especially in this politically sensitive period.”
Commissioner Gotan congratulated Abdulraman and reminded him that promotions come with added responsibilities. He urged the officer to remain committed to discipline, professionalism, and upholding the highest ideals of policing. Gotan reaffirmed the Osun Command’s commitment to fairness, respect for human rights, and sustaining peace and order in the state, highlighting the critical role of government support in their operations.
He concluded by encouraging all officers to emulate DSP Abdulraman’s dedication and hard work, describing him as a role model within the Force.
