APC Declares Abiodun Idowu Recognized ALGON Chairman in Osun

APC Declares Only Abiodun Idowu Recognised ALGON Chairman in Osun

The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed claims by a group parading themselves as local government chairmen in the state, describing them as impostors lacking legitimacy.

In a statement issued yesterday by its Director of Media and Information, Mogaji Kola Olabisi, the party urged the public to disregard a press briefing recently held in Osogbo by persons under the banner of the “Leadership of ALGON, Osun State.”

APC argued that the Court of Appeal judgment delivered on February 10, 2025, which reinstated its local government chairmen and councillors, remains valid and binding, thereby affirming them as the only legally recognised council executives in the state.

“The reinstated elected APC council chairmen are, in the eyes of the law, the authentic executive local government bosses in Osun today,” the statement read.

The party further maintained that Hon. Abiodun Idowu is the only duly recognised chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) in the state, a position it said is affirmed by the national headquarters of the body in Abuja.

Accusing those behind the unsigned press release of hiding their identities out of fear of legal consequences, the APC described their claims as diversionary and frivolous.

It also questioned the propriety of issuing public statements on a matter still pending in court, warning that such conduct amounted to recklessness.

“When the head is rotten, the entire body is in an irredeemable problem,” the statement concluded.
