President Tinubu Launches ₦10 Million Support Fund for Tertiary Institution Staff.

The administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has officially launched the Tertiary Institution Staff Support Fund (TISSF)  a strategic welfare initiative designed to enhance the well-being of academic and non-academic staff across Nigeria’s universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education.

The application portal for the programme is now open at tissf.education.gov.ng.

Speaking at the launch, Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa expressed appreciation to President Tinubu for approving the TISSF and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to advancing the education sector. He described the scheme as a testament to the President’s “Renewed Hope” agenda and a progressive investment in Nigeria’s educational development.

Under the initiative, eligible staff can access interest-free loans of up to ₦10 million, repayable over a maximum of five years, with a one-year moratorium. The funds can be used for various purposes including transportation, small-scale agribusiness ventures, medical expenses, family support, accommodation, and academic advancement.

Dr. Alausa emphasized that the TISSF, similar to the student-focused lNELFUND programme, is a timely and much-needed intervention to support the professional growth and financial independence of tertiary institution staff.

The scheme is a key component of the National Education Sector Renewal Implementation (NESRI) framework, which the Minister is championing. Robust monitoring mechanisms and safeguards have been put in place to ensure effective and transparent implementation.
