Matawalle Knocks Gov Lawal, Rallies APC for 2027 Battle

Minister of State for Defence, Bello Mohammed Matawalle, yesterday took a swipe at the Dauda Lawal administration in Zamfara State, declaring that the government had failed to deliver on its core campaign promise of restoring security within its first 100 days in office.

Addressing party leaders and supporters at the APC secretariat in Gusau during a political visit, Matawalle said the worsening banditry in the state was proof that the PDP-led government had not measured up to expectations.

The former governor accused the Lawal administration of riding on inherited projects while struggling to initiate impactful programmes of its own. He added that the rate at which some PDP members were crossing over to the APC showed growing discontent with the government.

Matawalle urged residents to review the administration’s performance over the last two years and determine whether it had justified the mandate it received in 2023.

APC supporters from various local government areas thronged the event, chanting solidarity slogans and calling for a return of the party to the Government House in 2027.
