Accord Party deregistration judgment violates Appeal Court order – Adeleke

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has condemned the Federal High Court judgment deregistering five political parties, describing the decision as an abuse of court process and a violation of a subsisting Court of Appeal order.

In a statement issued on Monday by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, the governor argued that the Court of Appeal had already ordered a stay of proceedings in the matter, making it improper for the lower court to deliver judgment.

According to Adeleke, the appellate court’s proceedings of May 22, 2026, were tendered before Justice Peter Lifu as Exhibit MAC 2.

He quoted the Court of Appeal as holding that the delivery of judgment remained part of the court’s proceedings, which should have been suspended pending the appeal.

The governor urged Osun residents to remain calm ahead of Tuesday’s hearing at the Court of Appeal, expressing confidence that the ruling would be overturned.

Adeleke also insisted that the Accord Party would remain on the ballot for the August 15 governorship election and predicted victory at the polls.

He dismissed the court judgment as an attempt to distract his party, assuring supporters that the campaign flag-off would proceed as scheduled while lawyers take steps to challenge the ruling.

The Federal High Court in Abuja on Monday ordered the deregistration of five political parties, a decision that has sparked legal and political reactions ahead of the Osun governorship election.
